I decided to no longer relax my hair since the last time in late July, its gettting more healtheir and curlier each week
The other week I washed it and didnt style it for days and I noticed that people looked at me weird.
Even today (i washed my hair last saturday) a girl i know, dark skinned, commetned that I need to relax my hair because it didnt look nice. She is quite obsessed with her appearance and relaxes her hair a lot, its bone straight.  I told her that Im NEVER relaxing it again and she gave me a weird look and left.

I feel that the relaxer is deep rotted in American and black AMerican history.
Its always the brown skinned girls saying "I an 100% black, all African and proud". But they wear weaves and relax it all the time. They even make fun of people with nappy hair and ones that are really dark.

For example: this brownskinned girl made an HUGE announcement about getting hair extensions,ew, and kept fishing for comliments. SHe is super annoying, especially being self-centered.

I must add: There are many girls at my school who would never wear their natural, unstraightened hair. I feel all badasses compared to them lol.

Has anyone witnessed this? BTW, I live in Louisiana and you'd think more women would proudly sport braids and dreads.

I always have kept my extremely curly wavy hair natural and never blow-dryed it once. Nice to know there are other Teens who don't.

I agree. I've gone without a relaxer for almost a year. I'm tired of having to put up with appointments, the length of time it takes, and so on. It's too much hassle for something I don't need. I realize that people look at me differently but I just don't care anymore. It's my hair and it's my decision. Plus, it's nice to think about all that money I'm saving

Very, true you do save alot of money, time, and headache. When you look back and think about it sometimes you may feel, that you shouldn't have let yourself go through it. The worse thing is when you let your hair stop you from working out at the gym or swimming which is life saving.
