Only a few hip hop fans are aware of the fact that, with rapper/actor Ice-T, one of the originators of gangsta rap is a Mulatto.
His father is white (Creole is stated in his biography), his mother Afro-American.

Ice-T released his first single "The Coldest Rap" in 1982.
This was also the first hip hop record to use certain explicit words, according to what is written on Wikipedia. The debut album "Rhyme Pays" came out in 1987.

I think Ice-T has been a pioneer in many ways. He has helped form certain controversial clichés e.g. through album covers showing him in expensive cars, wearing jewelry etc., from his early days on. The first album covers also featured Ice-T's then-wife Darlene Otiz on the side, regularely in a bikini.

Ice-T's albums were among the first to carry the "Parental Advisory" warning sticker.

In the 90ies Ice-T was successful with the crossover project "Body Count", an all-black metal rap group that sparked controversy with their debut single.

Note: I made certain edits to keep this thread appropriate for the positive resource message board. More explicit postings can be done on the debate and free speech message board.

Is his father Creole(French, French/Spanish) or is he Creole(african/other mix)?

Do Creole's (French, French/Spanish) Cajun's see themselves as white?

I've known since the early 1990's that Ice T is mixed. As he spoke about it in an interview here in the UK when promoting his rock album Body Count. And stated that as a kid he never knew black people didn't like and weren't supposed to like rock music.

It's been years since I saw that interview, but I always presumed his mother was Latin and his father was Afro American.

Cool. I LOVE seeing him in shows like Law & Order. In reality he's a bit TOO out-spoken for me to bere.
